175 dogs sterilized in April campaigns

April was another very successful month for Baja Dogs Sterilizations, with a total of 175 sterilizations completed! 69 sterilizations were completed in one day at our big campaign and 106 vouchers for in office surgeries were redeemed. Our running YTD total is 709 sterilizations for 2025, and our Grand Running Total is 7,203 sterilizations completed! View the video below to see a slideshow of pictures from our April campaign.

175 dogs were sterilized in our April campaigns.

April's campaign was held at the same school in El Calandrio where we held our March campaign, and where we will return in May. We have experienced an amazing turn out at this location, which is central to many small rural communities where the demand is high. While our campaigns almost always run smoothly, once in a while we do experience challenges! This month, on campaign day, we lost electricity due to a pole being hit. Although the vets managed with lighting, grooming became a problem. We were in the middle of the busiest times and all of us came together to get creative. Dr. Mario sent his son home to get a generator, while Linda ran to the pharmacy to buy razors, which ultimately did not work. Then the generator arrived, only to leak all of its gas. Undeterred, Linda jumped into a volunteer's truck and drove to Chedraui to buy a battery operated shaver. While she was still at the store, the calls began coming in saying the electricity was back! Whew. Well, it was certainly an eventful day but all else went perfectly. New volunteers attended and all dogs went home safely.
