Despite the increasing summer heat, Baja Dogs Sterilizations continues to bring free sterilization campaigns to underserved neighborhoods throughout La Paz, BCS, Mexico. 125 dogs were sterilized in June, bringing our year to date total to 938 sterilizations completed, and our total to date of 5,711 pets sterilized! Watch the video below to see pictures from our latest campaigns:
To ensure the safety of the animals and volunteers, we brought our campaigns indoors, thanks to generous community members who are offering up their facilities for our campaigns. 52 dogs were sterilized on June 30th at our main campaign in El Calandrio, where the local school allowed us the use of their facilities so that both the surgeries and the recovery area could be held indoors with A/C. In addition, we held one mini campaign at a local home in the Manglito neighborhood, where another 11 dogs were sterilized. There are a lot of fishermen that live in this community, and many of the homes have multiple dogs, so we hope to return there soon to do more of these "mini"campaigns. In addition to the campaigns, 62 vouchers for in-office sterilizations were redeemed in June.
