Over $22,000 USD was raised to provide free pet sterilization services to underserved communities in La Paz, BCS

Wow! Baja Dogs La Paz is incredibly grateful to have been honored at the annual Furry Fundraiser event in San Diego, CA, on Saturday, July 16th, 2022. The event was a huge success, with 135 people in attendance and over $22,000 USD raised to help fund Baja Dogs' mission of bringing free pet sterilization campaigns to underserved communities in La Paz, BCS. This year marked the 10th annual Furry Fundraiser event, organized by San Diego resident, Clare Hyde, and the second year in a row the organizers chose Baja Dogs La Paz to honor as its recipient for the donations.

31 auction and 60 raffle prizes were donated to help raise a total of $16,500 USD.

31 auction and 60 raffle prizes were donated to help raise the funds, with the two maximum prizes auctioned for $500 each. One of the top two auction prizes donated included a custom carved wooden tray, utensils, handmade plate, and smoked fish; another was an electric cooler worth $700. An Irish band, Tony Cummins, played at the event, which was hosted at a private residence in La Jolla, California.

Two $500 auction prizes were donated, including this hand carved platter, utensils, glass and homemade smoked fish.

One hundred percent of the funds will be used to fund Baja Dogs' pet sterilization campaigns, which bring free sterilization services to underserved communities in La Paz, BCS, Mexico. Working with our local veterinary partners, the cost of a single pet sterilization is around $25 USD. That means Baja Dogs can now fund over 800 pet sterilizations as a result of our donors' generosity. While that is a huge help to these communities, the $22,000 raised will cover about 5 months of sterilization expenses. It is estimated that a single unspayed female dog and her puppies can produce as many as 67,000 dogs in just six years. Baja Dogs has raised a total of $38,236 USD so far this year and has sterilized over 1,800 pets. You can view a video about Baja Dogs' sterilization campaigns here:
